CosmicSkeptic and His Jesus Mythicism Fail

November 27th, 2019

In this episode I give some critical comments about the method and argumentation of Alex O'Conner (CosmicSkeptic) in his recent debate with Jonathan McLatchie.

The basic points of contention - his failed epistemological standard and use of hyperskepticism as a method, and his advancement of the failed thesis of Jesus Mythicism and unchecked parroting of arguments made by the likes of unemployed blogger, Richard Carrier.

Various Calvinist Musings

November 20th, 2019

In this episode I give various Calvinistic musings, ranging from why Inspiration and basic Christian orthodoxy are good arguments for a kind of Calvinistic Compatiblism/Soft Determinism, thoughts on why discussions about sovereignty often fail before they get started, and if Calvinists can "know" that they are elect.

The Munus Triplex (Threefold Office) of Christ

November 16th, 2019

In this episode I present a paper I wrote breaking down what theologians have called the Munus Triples, or the Threefold Office of Christ - that is Prophet, Priest, and King. Freedway Thinker #14 - Abusing the Fathers

October 7th, 2019

In this quick Freedway Thinker, I discuss some of the problems that occur when people attempt to make arguments from the early church fathers to support their theological or historical claims. I have been a pretty staunch advocate of doing so sparingly and with great caution. The methodology needed to discuss the early church and their beliefs if riddled with landmines. And most people step on the very first one they see.

Freedway Thinker #13 - Freewill and Divine Hiddenness

September 16th, 2019

For some, God seems hidden. Some Christians have tried to respond to this objection by saying that if God would appear, it would some how "force our hand" to belief and this would be a tacit violation of free-will. Is this a good response to the challenge? Like with the problem of evil/suffering, I think the freewill defense is not only lacking, but downright demonstrably false. So what is a better way to respond to the challenge? Listen and find out!

July 31st, 2019

In this quick freedway reflection, I talk about an interesting problem that arises from those who want to argue that it is categorical ability and not conditional ability that is the necessary condition for moral responsibility.
